Career Planning & Research

Participants will discover new methods for choosing careers, how technology will influence future jobs, where and how to research jobs, and where to get help.   Career research and comparison activities are available.

 

Résumés & Job Interviewing

Participants will become experts at crafting résumés and master the critical behaviors necessary for the job interviewing process.  Résumé package development and mock interviews (one-on-one or group style) are available.

 

How to Choose a College

Students will learn how to objectively compare colleges by evaluating factors such as cost, curriculum, campus environment, and accreditation.  College research and comparison activities are available.

 

Financial Aid & Scholarships

Students will learn how to navigate the Financial Aid process, apply for educational  tax credits, locate scholarships, write essays, and avoid scams.  Scholarship research activities and parent-night workshops are available. 

 

Goal Setting & Time Management

Participants will learn to appreciate why goal setting and time management are the keys to success, and how clear goals and objectives can help them prioritize their time. Everyone will complete a detailed Goal Worksheet and Time Matrix

Creating Effective Digital Career Portfolios

Learn how to make user-friendly Digital Career Portfolios that are the centerpiece of student’s collection of evidence for Extended (CRL) Applications, and tips on streamlining the conversion process.

 

Staff Development Training

Instructors will explore new techniques for using technology and parables to engage “digitally distracted” students while interrelating curricula to increase student involvement.  CRLs portfolio tracking systems are also available.

 

 

Career Solutions  has a passion for helping people discover their direction, which is why we provide  career-related learning workshops for high schools, colleges, agencies, and  private organizations.

 

Each workshop can vary in time and scope, from engaging 20-minute overviews to hour-long instructional sessions to intensive full-day workshops involving project-based learning activities.   Groups of almost any size can be accommodated.

 

Career Solutions provides  instructors with worksheets and digital media to support the material covered, which can be used to document state-mandated Career-Related Learning standards.

 

Workshop Cost

    For-Profit Organizations:

        Single (1 Hour) Workshop: $395
        Additional Same-Day Workshops: $195
        Hourly Consulting: $65

 

    Non-Profit Organizations:

        Single (1 Hour) Workshop: $195
        Additional Same-Day Workshops: $95
        Hourly Consulting: $45

Handouts for up to 35 participants are included with each workshop. Additional copies can be purchased, or made on site. Locations more than 60 miles from Portland, Oregon may involve a mileage surcharge.
